We asked you to share your current Silver Linings and how you’re staying positive during these unusual times. Reading your responses inspired us to appreciate the little things, and we wanted to share them with the HOURS community in hopes it brings light into your world as well - because we’re in this together ❤️️
“The silver lining to this whole pandemic has been getting closer to my daughter."
"I barely had a relationship with her or saw her much. So yes this hit me hard financially and I’m not able to do the things I did before but it changed the way I see life and it gives me hope that even at our worst moments we can always make things better with love. She hated cooking and now finds recipes to make something new and impress me, we now plan outfits for little dates and even step out the yard for photo shoots.”
Norka, Brooklyn, NY
“I'm letting myself truly care for my basic needs and acknowledging that that is enough for me."
"I’m feeling a lot more silver linings than I would have expected: I’m letting myself truly care for my basic needs and acknowledging that that is enough for me. Laundry, cooking, reading, keeping my home clean. Those things were such a struggle before this. I also still enjoy grooming, taking long baths, getting dressed - and doing it for myself is enough! I’ve also used this time to make a cute desk setup I never would have been inspired to do before!"
Hilary K. Indiana, PA
“I've realized that life can also be appreciated when it's slow."
“A silver lining in my life that has happened due to this crazy situation we are all living in is that I’ve realized that life can also be appreciated when it’s slow. This time of forced solitude has allowed me to really connect with myself and learn to take pleasure in small things like taking a shower, playing with my dog or eating a good meal. And there is actually a lot of beauty and power in appreciating each moment.”
Sarah HS. , Brooklyn, NY
“I always have someone to cuddle with!"
“This was the perfect opportunity to convince my husband to get a dog! We finally adopted one from a shelter and she has made being at home so enjoyable and I always have someone to cuddle with!"
Anu S., Westfield, NJ
“It's been 45 days since I hugged someone, BEWARE is all I can say."
During this wild time in our lives, so much has changed. Our work, our social lives, our ability to go anywhere and everywhere at any given time. Modeling for me has come to a standstill, and I'm constantly coming up with creative ways to keep my brand going and my sanity on point. From FaceTime shoots, to creating media Kits for other models, I'm keeping busy. But what I miss most is human contact. I’m latina, we kiss you the moment we see you, we hug you to show you that you mean something to us. It’s been 45 days since I hugged someone, BEWARE is all I can say, IM HUGGING/SQUEEZING EVERYONE, even strangers when this is over. You get a hug, you get a hug & you get a hug - I'm gonna be the hugging Bandit! With that said, be safe, it’s almost over and prepare for a hug from me.

“I see it less as finding the good in the bad but finding the good in humanity that is unshaken despite it all”
It’s such a hard thing because it's difficult to call anything a silver lining. This virus has caused so much death and damage to our world and it's difficult to watch. I see it less as finding the good in the bad but finding the good in humanity that is unshaken despite it all. For example, I'm amazed when I see how hardworking and unselfish our medical and essential workers are. I'm moved when I am able to see even more clearly how much of a salve the voice of a friend is. And I am blessed to be working in this time and to be able to do it in the company of my precious puppy, catching some relief from the hustle of New York City life and learning new things about how well my body and mind responds to things I used to love like rest, reading, and curiosity.
Jessica A., Brooklyn, NY
“Having time to notice the new growths on my plant children..."
"A silver lining has been having time to notice the new growths on my plant children, more meditation, and putting up the art that I didn’t have time to hang."
Valeri, S. Olema, CA

“The look she gives me when she's full makes my heart melt."
“Being home with both my daughters and no help has been very challenging, but a silver lining has been getting to breastfeed my newborn and not having to pump at work all day! The look she gives me when she’s full makes my heart melt. Definitely a great pick me up after a long day.”
Harroop K., New York, NY
